Re: Genesis
Phil Collins is a bit of a knob. But he drums like a mutha on "Down And Out" from "And Then There Were Three"

Re: Genesis
I loved their stuff up to about 1980ish. then they got a bit too pop and commercial, also good to hear tony banks admitting he was a bit of a control freak and that it was hard for hackett to feature on many songs

3 sides live is an excellent album

After Duke and Genesis album (for two tracks), forget it. Turned truly awful v quickly.

Just as Peter Gabriel became a legend.... Funny, that.

Re: Genesis
it was a bit of a poor documentary that considering the amount of material they made. far too much on the later shit period. shame really but it's only a vehicle for the new compilation so im sure they're not bothered

Re: Genesis
I do not know what the hell Peter Gabriel was doing but i totally got PhIIl Collins because he was simply about writing and singing simple great pop songs and that is what I care for and YES i am a fan of Genesis . It was funny how Peter Gabriel took their no 1 spot in America with the brilliant Sledgehammer. Who has the best voice is a silly argument the best answer is that their is a minimal difference they are both massive singers.

Re: Genesis
i agree, they both did a great job as singer

a singer I always thought was a lot like gabriel was fish on the early marillion albums. I don't know whether he consciously tried to sound like him but he was very similar

Re: Genesis
If you are a fan of the old stuff, then do yourself a favour and go and see Steve Hackett this autumn, who is playing exclusively old Genesis material on this tour (perfectly).

I've seen it twice on previous legs and it's as close as you'll get to seeing early 70's Genesis again, with the most important original member (IMO) on stage. I've got tix for Brighton and Guildford so far.

Also The Musical Box are a PERFECT recreation of early Genesis shows, but unfortunately they're not coming to the UK on their current jaunt. I'm planning to see the Paris SEBTP show.
